Welcome to the Limeport Consulting Group!
The Limeport Consulting Group was founded in 1988 by John Schubert to help bicycle companies and government agencies do their jobs better—to help improve the overall environment for cycling and to foster safer cycling through better products, proficiency, knowledge and better communication.
We are frequently in demand for our well-recognized expert witness services in bicycle accident reconstruction, providing reports and testimony on rider behavior, education, interpretation of state vehicle codes, product failure modes, human factors, and related areas. We have been certified for reconstruction testimony in three federal court jurisdictions, which gives a head start in eliminating Daubert-related problems.
We are cycling journalists. Sometimes we are cheerleaders; sometimes we are muckrakers; always we are relentless in giving the public information that will benefit them. We have been published in books, web sites, newspapers and magazines all over the world.
We have other areas of expertise in corporate communications consulting (proposal writing, speech writing, writing coaching, marketing communications consulting & copywriting) and in local and state government and school system operations.
Back to cycling. If there’s one thing we want to emphasize, it’s that cycling on North America’s public roads can be quite safe, and the individual cyclist has far more control over his own safety (and psychological comfort) than most people realize.
Cycling isn’t just for athletes. If you got picked last for basketball teams in gym class, you can have a great time on a bike, going on long-distance rides and overnight trips that would make those high school jocks envious. You can be old, you can be overweight, you can be clumsy, and you can still be a safe, proficient cyclist. The skills and knowledge are easy to learn.
We don’t need to rebuild America to make cycling feasible. The roads we have now can be used safely. A multi-trillion-dollar makeover is neither necessary nor desirable. The Limeport Consulting Group’s view of cycling is not utopian—it’s practical, and it’s based on the infrastructure we already have. That said, there is much that can be done to make the existing road structure more pleasant, and in some cases more safe, for cyclists—but most of these improvements happen to be cheap and easy. (Examples include smooth seamless paving out to the road edge, and in some cases the addition of road shoulders; cross-link pattern sewer grates; improved railroad crossings and good maintenance schedules.) Better still, these improvements benefit all road users, and can be snuck into other budget line items, instead of being set-asides just for cycling.
We want a good cycling environment to be seen as something that benefits everyone, not just as a set-aside for a special interest group.
We see some rather expensive mistakes being made. We would like to help stop that.
